1942 Egypt 25 Piastres National Bank of Egypt Pick Number 10c Apparent Crisp Uncirculated Banknote

  • $ 147.99

Description: A beautiful apparent crisp uncirculated banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 4th September 1942, very desirable 25 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is deep purple in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of a village on the bank of the Nile with people and camels and showing sail boats anchored at the edge of the water. The back shows a colorful design in dark blue on a pale orange and gray background with the wings of Horus on top and the name of the bank as well as the denomination in the center. The front also indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 494005 and is from the series L/70, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front but not on the back. The note has no watermark. It is signed by N. Nixon the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 4 September 1942.

Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co Ltd of London, England.

Size: The banknote measures ~4 7/8" by ~2 7/8".

Pick Number: 10c.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as an apparent crisp uncirculated. The note has all of its details very well preserved. The note has a very attractive appearance with no folds or creases. The note is clean with no pinholes, no graffiti, no splits, no stains, and no repairs and with its edges being intact. Its corners are squared and displaying no rounding. The note is clean, bright, retains its original sheen and all of its original crispiness as well as stiffness. The only issue is the residue from the note being hinged in all four corners, which can be seen in the photos and hence our designation of apparent crisp uncirculated instead of straight crisp uncirculated. Be that as it may, this is a nice piece in good shape and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
