1942 Egypt 25 Piastres National Bank of Egypt Pick Number 10c Choice Extremely Fine or Better Banknote
Description: A beautiful extremely fine or better banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 4th September 1942, very desirable 25 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is deep purple in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of a village on the banks of the Nile with people and camels and showing sail boats anchored at the edge of the water. The back shows a colorful design in dark blue on a pale orange and gray background with the wings of Horus on top and the name of the bank as well as the denomination in the center. The front also indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 010506 and is from the series L/70, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has no watermark. It is signed by N. Nixon the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 4 September 1942.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co Ltd of London, England.
Size: The banknote measures ~4 7/8" by ~2 7/8".
Pick Number: P10c and is listed in the banknote book as B108c.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a choice extremely fine or better. The note has all of its details very well preserved. The note has a very attractive appearance, with signs of light handling. The note has a light vertical fold in the center and signs of handling displayed as light short folds in a couple of spots. The note is also lightly soiled and has a few light stains mainly around the corners and the edges. Other than that the note is clean, bright and retains quite a bit of its original stiffness, crispiness, and sheen. The corners are intact and nicely squared with the slightest evidence of rounding if any and a few minor bumps. The edges are intact and show no wear. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, no splits, and no repairs. This is a nice piece in extremely fine condition and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
