1942 ND Government of Malta Two Shillings Banknote Pick Number 17c Very Fine
Description: A very fine banknote from Malta. This is The Government of Malta 2 shillings banknote. The banknote, which is not dated to have been issued in 1942. The banknote is brown and green on the front. It depicts the image of King George VI facing forward within an oval frame to the right of the front. The back is blank. The note has one signature, that of Cuschieri and has a water mark. However, because of the banknote being well soiled, it is impossible to identify the water mark, which is supposed to be the map of Malaya. The fact that it also has the prefix A/3 and is printed on heavy paper makes this Pick Number 17c. This particular note has the serial number 217208, displayed twice in black on the front and has the prefix A/3. A good note in very fine condition to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date: No Date but known to have been issued in 1942.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company.
Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~2 3/4".
Pick Number: P 17c and is listed in the Banknote Book as B116c.
Condition: I would grade the note as very fine. The note has folds, wrinkling, and many bumps. It is heavily soiled with some staining especially on the back. The colors are faded and the corners are rounded with bumps. The note has roughness along the edges and has a nick or two at the ends of the folds. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears, and no splits. Be that as it may, this is an acceptable example of this rather elusive banknote that deserve a spot in your collection. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
