1943 ND Government of Malta One Shilling Banknote Pick Number 16 Good Fine

  • $ 14.99

Description: A good fine or better banknote from Malta. This is The Government of Malta one shilling banknote. The banknote, which is not dated, is known to have been issued in 1942. The banknote is blue, red, and green on the front. It depicts the image of King George VI facing forward within an oval frame in the center of the front. The back is blank. The note has one signature, that of Cuschieri and has no watermark. This particular note has the serial number 323972 displayed in black twice on the front and is series A/1. A good note in fine or better condition to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: No Date but known to have been issued in 1943.

Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company.

Size: The banknote measures ~4 3/4" by ~2 1/2".

Pick Number: P 16 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B115a.

Condition: I would grade the note as good fine or better. The note has folds, wrinkling, and many bumps. It is heavily soiled with some staining especially on the back. The colors are faded and the corners are rounded with bumps. The note has roughness along the edges and has a nick or two at the ends of the folds. The note has no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. It does have a spot where the light comes through (cannot call it a pinhole), which is most likely a result of excessive folding and unfolding of the note, which is the reason we grade the note F+ instead VF. Be that as it may, this is an acceptable example of this rather elusive banknote that deserve a spot in your collection. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
