This banknote is black, red and yellow in color on the front and back. The front depicts the Scottish arms top center with the image of what looks like a cathedral to the left and a castle to the right. The back depicts the image of an old cityscape in the center flanked by the denomination in numerals. The front displays one signature in black, the denomination, the serial number, and series identification. This particular note has the serial number 640-564 and is series A over U. The banknote has no watermark that we could find . Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1st Novembert 1944.
Printer: W & A.K. Johnston, Ltd Edinburgh.
Size: The banknote measures ~6" by ~3 3/8".
Pick Number: P 258b.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds, no wrinkling, no pinholes, no graffiti, and no tears or splits. It has no roughness along the edges and its corners are fully squared with no observable rounding. It does have what looks like a spot of light soiling at the bottom right corner of the back. This, if indeed soiling, is due to handling as opposed to circulation. It is light and very difficult to visualize and is mentioned here for completeness. The note retains all of its original stiffness and crispiness. The colors are vivid and bright. A nice and attractive note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
