1944 WWII Germany Allied Occupation Military Currency 50 Mark Banknote Pick 196d

  • $ 59.99

Description: A nice extremely fine or much better banknote issued by the Allied Military at the end of World War II as military currency in Germany. This is the 1944, fifty Mark banknote. The note which is blue on light blue underprint on the front has an eight-digit serial number 56053275 preceded with a hyphen and without F, making it pick 196d. The note shows the serial number and denomination on the front and is written in German. This particular has the serial number 56053275 and is Series 1944. The back is brown in color with the letter M repeated three times along the center line. The note is unsigned and has no watermark that we could find. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1944.

Printer: Unknown.

Size: The note measures ~6 1/8" by ~2 5/8".

Pick Number: P 196d and is listed in the Banknote Book as 606b2.

Condition: I would grade this rather nice note as a good extremely fine to about uncirculated or much better. The note is clean, has no stains, has no folds, and no tears or splits. It has no graffiti and no pinholes, with its corners being intact with minimum rounding, but have a few minor bumps and fold marks. The edges are intact with minimum roughness if any but show some rippling along the margin. The bumps and the rippling signs along the edge are the reason we grade the note XF and not AU. However, we doubt that the note saw much circulation. The note retains most if not all of its original stiffness and crispiness. Its colors are vivid and show no fading. All in all an extremely fine, nice looking example of this great historic note, which would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
