1948 Egypt 25 Piastres National Bank of Egypt Pick Number 10d Signed Leith-Ross Very Fine Banknote

Description: A beautiful very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 1st March 1948, very desirable 25 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is deep purple in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of a village on the bank of the Nile with people and camels and showing sail boats anchored at the edge of the water. The back shows a colorful design in dark blue on a pale orange and gray background with the wings of Horus on top and the name of the bank as well as the denomination in the center. The front also indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 528573 and is from the series L/87, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front but not on the back. The note has no watermark. It is signed by Fredrick Leith-Ross the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fined. The note has all of its details well preserved. The note has three vertical folds and a horizontal fold. IT also has considerable wrinkling. We believe the note may have been flattened, but it is still great looking. The note still retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. It is lightly soiled but has no major objectionable stains. The note has no pinholes, no splits, and no repairs and its edges are intact with minimum roughness. Its corners are intact with some rounding. The note has some graffiti on the front in the form of numbers written to the right of center. Be that as it may, this is a nice piece in fairly good condition and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
