The back of the piece is flat and unglazed with the typical redware color. It is marked on the back with the potter's name and date of creation. A beautiful and very unusual plaque in very good condition, destined to be a cherished collectible. It would make a nice addition to your collection. Condition: The plaque is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or hairlines. It does have general crazing to the glaze. It also has some of the usual manufacturing issues you would expect in such handmade primitive pieces of pottery such as spots where the glaze did not fully flow, where the glaze flowed to where it was not supposed to, pops, slubs, underglaze defects, and surface roughness. This piece has a very limited amount of these issues. The back has a firing crack, that does not go through to the other side, which happened during the making. Other than that, the piece is intact solid and looks great.
