Description: A nice choice very fine banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the 1 May 1957 Fifty Francs currency note issued by the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. The note is red on multi-colored underprint. The front depicts the workers standing in front modern weaving machines in the center and a worker holding a roll of cloth. The reverse has the same color scheme as the front and has the image of native men weaving by hand in front of huts. The front is in French and shows the serial number in black two times. This particular note has the serial number G305438. The back is written in Flemish. The note has a watermark showing a Leopard's head but no security thread. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. in England.

Size: The banknote measures ~6" by ~3 1/8".

Condition: For international buyers, please note that on January 20, 2018 the new US postal rates for overseas shipping went into effect for first class shipments, which we are unable to change. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. I would grade this note as choice very fine or much better. The note is lightly soiled, especially on the back, but is all original with minimum wear. It has at least two vertical central folds and a few bumps and creases especially at the corners. It retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and crispiness. The note is well printed and nicely margined. It has a couple of minor light stains. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, and no tears or splits. The edges are intact and show no appreciable roughness. A great looking rare note to add to your collection. Please view the scan presented for additional condition information.
