1961-65 ND Australia 10 Shillings Banknote Pick Number 33a Matthew Flinders Portrait Nice About Very Fine Currency
Description: A beautiful about very fine banknote from the Commonwealth of Australia. This is the undated 1961-65 ten shillings currency note. This banknote is dark brown in color over an orange and green background. It depicts the image of a Matthew Flinders (the English navigator and cartographer, who was the first to circumnavigate Australia and identify it as a continent) in an oval frame to the right of the front. It also has the Australian arms in the lower left corner of the front. The back is dark brown over white background showing the old parliament building in Canberra. The front also has the denomination written in words (Ten Shillings) in the center and as 1/2 in all four corners. It has the signatures of Roland Wilson to the right and H.C. Coombes with the title Governor, Reserve Bank of Australia both in center bottom of the front in black. This particular note has the serial number 743766 displayed twice in black on the front but not on the back. It is series AH over 41. The banknote has a water mark depicting captain Cook's head. This is a rather scarce note and would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice about very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical and horizontal folds. It also displays general wrinkling as well as some general light soiling but no staining. The note appears to have been pressed but still retains some of its original stiffness. The colors are vivid and bright. The corners are intact with minimum rounding. The edges are intact and show minimum wear. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. The note would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
