1961 Malaya and British Borneo 50 Cents Copper-Nickel Coin Uncirculated NGC MS66 Queen Elizabeth II Facing Right
Description: A beautiful and lustrous, uncirculated mint state, 1961 copper-nickel coin from Malaya and British Borneo. This is the 50 cents coin depicting the bust of queen Elizabeth II facing right on the obverse. The obverse also has the legend "QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND" surrounding her bust. The reverse has the denomination in the center with the legend "MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO 1961" surrounding it. This is a relatively a rare coin in such a mint state condition and is listed for $250 in Krause's book for MS65. This coin is graded MS 66 by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. The coin has a reeded edge with a central beaded depression (a security feature). Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.
Mint: Minted in Birmingham England as evidenced by the mint mark H below the denomination on the reverse.
Size and Weight: This is a 50 cents, which is approximately ~33 mm in diameter and weighs ~9 grams of copper-nickel. The coin has a reeded rim with the central beaded portion, which is an unusual security feature in world coins.
