  • $ 77.77

Description: A nice very fine or better banknote from France. This is the G.1-2-1962.G Five or Cinq Nouveaux Francs. The banknote is multi colored with light blue and orange being the prevailing color. It has the image of Victor Hugo the famous French author to the right of the front with the image of the Pantheon in Paris left of center. The back has basically the same color scheme with the image of Victor Hugo to the left and the image of Vosges place right of center. This particular note has the serial number 0190801490 and is series J.77. It also has three signatures on the front. The banknote has a water mark depicting the bust of Victor Hugo facing forward, slightly off-center. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: February 2, 1962.

Printer: Bank of France.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3". Pick Number: P 141a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has several vertical folds, angled folds, or creases, but no apparent horizontal fold. It is lightly soiled but has no large objectionable stains. It does have some small and light stains. The edges are intact but show some roughness, especially at the end of the folds. The corners are intact with bumping and rounding. The note has no tears, no splits, no pinholes (a miracle for a French note), and no graffiti. The note retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. A great example of this rather scarce banknote offered here at a reasonable price. A great note to add to your collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
