1964 Mint Set Four Egypt Silver Coin Commemorative Nile Diversion by The Aswan High Dam 5, 10, 25, and 50 Piastres Velour Covered Box
Description: Beautiful mint set consisting of four 1964 (1384 AH) silver coins from Egypt. The set consists of the 5 piastres, 10 piastres, 25 piastres, and 50 pistreas coins. All four coins are uncirculated and come wrapped in plastic and are housed in a velour covered box and was issued by the Cairo Mint in the United Arab Republic. The four coins have the same design on the obverse, which depicts the Aswan High Dam with the Nile flowing and the sun rising behind the structure and they commemorate the fact that on May 15, 1964 the dam structure resulted in the diversion of the flow of the Nile River, a major historic feat in Egypt. The coins are labeled (Al Gomhouriah al-Arabiah al-Mutahida) United Arab Republic as opposed to Arab Republic of Egypt. The coins were minted when Egypt and Syria where united into a confederation. They are KM-404, KM-405, KM406, and KM-407. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Size and Weight: The set consists of a five piastres weighing ~2.50 grams and is ~20 mm in diameter, a ten piastres weighing ~5 grams and is ~24 mm in diameter, a 25 piastres weighing ~10 grams and is ~30 mm in diameter, and 50 pistres weighing ~20 grams and measures ~40 mm in diameter all made of 0.72 silver.

Condition: All four coins are uncirculated and are wrapped in plastic. They show no wear and are great looking. The box they come in shows minor soiling and residual dirt from a label which was on top of the box and was removed sometime along the way. A great mint set that very seldom comes by. Just a great looking set of coins which is rare in this state and is of limited mintage. Please see photo for additional condition information.
