1966 No Date Currency Ethiopia 100 Dollar Emperor Haile Selassie P# 29 Very Fine

  • $ 67.77

Description: A nice very fine Banknote from Ethiopia. This is the no date 1966, one hundred dollars currency note issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia. The front of the banknote is purple on green and multicolored underprint and shows the bust of Emperor Haile Selassie to the right. There is a building in the left bottom corner of the front, which represents the of Bet Giorgis in Lalibela. The back, which is purple in color, depicts the image of the Ethiopian Arms which is a crowned lion with a flagged cross in its paw. The banknote does not display the date anywhere. It displays the denomination on both the front and back. It has one signature on the front. This particular note has the serial number B917539, which is displayed in black twice on the front. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1966.

Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Company Ltd.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 3/4" by ~3".

Pick Number: P 29a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note retains some of its original stiffness. The note has several vertical folds but no obvious horizontal ones. The not shows soiling especially along the fold lines on the back. The note has some stains, graffiti within the left margin on the back (the number 58 in red ink), and general light roughness along the edges, especially at the ends of the folds. The corners are intact but show some rounding and bumps. The note has no pinholes, no tears, and no splits. A nice note in very fine condition to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
