1966 No Date Currency Ethiopia 50 Dollar Banknote Emperor Haile Selassie P#28 VF

  • $ 49.99

Description: A nice very fine banknote from Ethiopia. This is the no date 1966, fifty dollar currency note issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia. The front of the banknote is blue on multicolored underprint and shows the bust of Emperor Haile Selassie to the right. There is the image of the spillway of the Koka high dam on the Awash River to the left of the front. The back, which is blue in color, depicts the image of the Ethiopian Arms which is a crowned lion with a flagged cross in its paw. The banknote does not display the date anywhere. It displays the denomination on both the front and back. It has one signature on the front. This particular note has the serial number A208544, which is displayed in black twice on the front. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1966.

Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Company Ltd.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 5/8" by ~3".

Pick Number: P 28a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B304a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note has vertical folds and a horizontal fold with some general wrinkling. It is soiled but no objectionable stains. The edges show general roughness and concentration of soiling. The note has a small split at the bottom end of the central vertical fold. It has no pinholes but has graffiti consisting of some light writing on blue ink along the right edge of the back. It has no tears, and no splits beyond the one discussed above. The corners are intact and show some rounding and bumps. Be that as it may, the note would make a worthy addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
