1969 Vatican Bronze Annual Medal Pope Paul VI Anno VII Sacred Gift of Human Life
Description: A beautiful bronze medal issued by the Vatican. This is a papal state bronze annual medal issued in 1969-1970 during the reign of Paul VI representing year VII. The medal shows the head of the pontiff with his hand up in the blessing motion on the obverse. The obverse has the legend "PAULUS VI PONT.MAX.AN.VII" in front and under the head. The reverse shows the images of two women, the Virgin Mary and St. Elizabeth, with the Virgin holding a child, representing Mother Church, defending the sacred gift of human life. The reverse also has the inscription "SACRUM UMANAE VITAE DONUM ECCLESIA MATER DEFENDIT" along the edge surrounding the image. Both the obverse and reverse are marked Calvelli for Ettore Calvelli the engraver. A beautiful papal medal with a great modern design. The medal has very nice eye appeal. The edge of the medal is smooth and unmarked. A nice-looking medal, which would make a worthy addition to any collection.
