Description: A beautiful very fine Banknote from Northern Ireland. This is the no date Bank of Ireland five pounds note known to have been issued in 1971 and signed by H.H.M. Chestnutt. The banknote is blue on light green and lilac underprint. It depicts Mercury's head to the left and a woman standing and leaning on a harp at the right of the front. The front also has the denomination, one signature and the serial number. This particular note has the serial number P946697, which is shown in red twice on the front. The back shows an airplane, a ship, Bank of Ireland building, rolls of cloth and bobbins with the denomination in opposite corners. The note has a watermark saying "BANK OF IRELAND." Please carefully review the scan provided as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: The note has no date but is known to have been issued in 1971.

Printer: Thomas De La Rue.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 3/4" by ~3".

Pick Number: Pick number 62a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all of its details being well preserved. The has light folds with general light wrinkling and appears to have been flattened. The note is relatively clean with no major soiling or staining. The edges have some minor roughness and we have identified a shot tear (~1/8") at the bottom edge. There is also a few minor nicks here and there butt nothing to worry about. The not has no graffiti, no pinholes, and no additional tears or splits beyond what we have identified above. The corners are intact with no losses, but has some minor rounding and a few bumps. A relatively rare and very desirable note in very fine condition which would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
