The obverse has the legend \"CHARLES CARROLL of CARROLLTON of MARYLAND\" along the edge surrounding the image. There is also the notation \"RALPH J. MENCONI (c) 1971\" to the left of the base of image. The reverse has the image of George Washington in a boat with men surrounding him and an American flag in the background in a rectangle inn the center. There is the legend \"GEORGE WASHINGTON CROSSING THE DELAWARE RIVER\/DECEMBERR 26th\" with Charles Carroll signature below the image and the dates 1737 and 1832 flanking the signature. There is also the legend \"THE UNANIMOUS DECLARATION THE THIRTEEN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA JULY 4 1776\" along the edge surrounding the design. The medal comes in its original issue box.
