1971 Hong Kong 100 Dollars Banknote The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation Pick Number 183c Good Fine or Much Better
Description: A beautiful fine or better banknote from Hong Kong. This is The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation March 18, 1971 one hundred dollars currency note. The banknote which was issued by the "The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. has a red design on multicolored background with the image of the Hong Kong Arms in the upper center of the front with the denomination in the corners on the front. The note has the denomination spelled out in the center of the front. The front also has the image of a seated woman with an open book to the left. The back has the same color scheme as the front with the image of a large building in the center with a winged angel above it. The back also displays the denomination as 100 in two corners and in the middle along the right edge. This particular note has the serial number 639729 VF displayed twice on the front an d four times on the back. The note has two signatures displayed on the front near the bottom edge. Those have the titles Chief Accountant and General Manager. It is dated 18th March 1971. The banknote has a watermark located in the clear area to the left of the back, which displays the image of a helmeted warrior's head. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 18 March 1971.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd - New Malden, Surrey, England.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/4" by ~3 1/2".
Pick Number: P 183c.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The note has vertical and horizontal folds and general wrinkling. It is lightly soiled but has no objectionable stains. The note has folds both vertical and horizontal as well as general wrinkling. The note was most likely pressed. The corners are intact and have minimum rounding. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The edges have some minor roughness and nicks at the ends of the folds. As you can see from the images, the note has nice vivid colors and looks great. A very attractive example of this relatively scarce banknote, which would make a good addition to your collection. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
