1976 Egypt 20 Pounds Banknote Mohammed Ali Mosque Ramses II War Chariot P 48 UNC
Description: A nice crisp uncirculated 20 Egyptian pounds banknote. This is the July 12, 1976 large size note issued by the Central Bank of Egypt. The note is green and black on multicolored underprint. It depicts the mosque of Mohammed Ali in the Cairo Citadel left of center on the front. The back depicts Ramesses or Ramses the second or the great in his war chariot with a bow and arrow in his hand. The back is also decorated with scene from ancient Egyptian temple walls. The front of the note is in Arabic, while the back is in English. The front has the signature of Mohammed Ibrahim the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt at the time. It also shows the date, the serial number as well as the series. This particular note has the serial number 0194673 and is series "7/seen". The note has a watermark depicting an ancient Egyptian scribe and also has a thin security thread right of center. According to Magdy Hanafy this is the first time the security thread was introduced in Egyptian banknotes. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good crisp uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. This is a very attractive note, with no signs of handling. It has no folds and no creases. The note is clean and bright and retains its original crispiness, stiffness, and sheen. The corners are intact and well squared with no observable rounding. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no repairs, no tears, and no splits. The edges are intact and show no signs of roughness. A great note to add to your collection.
