Macau China Five Patacas

1976 Five Patacas Macau China Currency Pick Number 54a Crisp Uncirculated Banknote

  • $ 124.99

Description: A beautiful crisp uncirculated Banknote from Macau a small city state that was a Portuguese colony till 1999 when it reverted to Chinese rule. It is across the bay from Hong Kong on main land China. This is the 18 November 1976, 5 Patacas, issued during the Portuguese administration. The banknote has a brown image coloring on multicolor under-print. It depicts the image of Bishop D. Belchior Carneiro to the bottom right side of the front. The front also has the seal of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (possibly the National Maritime Bank) of Lisbon Portugal, which displays a sail ship. There is also the text CONSELHO DE GESTAO in the center of the front. The banknote displays the date and the denomination on the front and only the denomination on the back in both Latin and Chinese characters. The back depicts a woman reclining on a wall with sailing ships in the background. Again the scene is in brown over a multicolored background. The note has two signatures on the front. This particular note has the serial number 2169246, which is displayed on the front twice but is not displayed on the back. The paper of the note is crisp and in excellent new condition with an anti-counterfeit vertical wire. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 18 November 1976.

Printer: Not identified on the banknote, but known to be BWC.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 9/16" by ~2 5/8".

Pick Number: P 54a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a choice crisp uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no creases or soiling. The note has no graffiti, pinholes, splits, or tears. The corners of the note have no rounding and are sharp and intact. The note has no splits and the edges are intact. Just a great piece to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
