1979 Egypt Silver Coin One Pound 25th Anniversary Abbasia Mint Lustrous Proof
Description: Beautiful lustrous proof coin dated 1979 (1399 AH). This is a One Egyptian Pound silver coin. The coin was issued to commemorate the twenty fifth anniversary, or the Silver Jubilee, of the Abbasia Mint in Cairo Egypt. It depicts the image of the mint building with the design depicting a die head within a cogwheel above it and the date all on the obverse. The obverse also indicates in beautiful calligraphy that this is for the silver jubilee of the mint. The reverse is all in beautiful decorative Arabic Calligraphy showing the dates, the denomination, and the words "Arab Republic of Egypt." Just a great looking coin measuring about 35 millimeters in diameter. It is KM-488 and weighs 15 grams of 0.72 silver. This is a rather rare coin with a mintage of 2,000 coins in the proof issue.
