1982 Carved Wood Dux' Dekes Ruddy Duck Decoy By Jeff Duxbury Glass Eyes

  • $ 57.77

Description: A beautiful decorative carved wood and finished duck decoy. This is a decoy representing a Ruddy duck. The piece, which appears to be made from a beautiful hardwood, is unpainted but obviously finished with a light brown coloring showing the beautiful grain in the wood. The decoy has what we believe is glass eyes. The decoy has carved details showing the general shape and curves within the head, the body and the distinctive Ruddy tail. There is also carving outlining the wide flat beak or bill. The decoy has a flat bottom and lays flat on surfaces. It would make for a great decorative piece or a nice addition to your collection. The piece is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: The piece is dated 12/82 or December 1982.

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The decoy measures ~9 1/2" long, ~5 1/4" at its widest, and ~4 5/8" at its highest point. The piece weighs slightly over one pound and one ounce.

Maker: Jeff Duxbury.

Marks: The piece is marked "Dux' Dekes" and has the words "Ruddy 12/98" in cursive calligraphy and is signed in ink "Jeff W Duxbury" on the bottom, see last photo.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with minimum wear or losses to the finish. It is lightly soiled and could use a light wipe down to clean it. The decoy has no breaks or repairs and shows beautiful wood grain. It has a few scratches and dings to the surface but these give the decoy true character. It also has larger and more obvious scratch to the surface where the finish is lost on the side (see the first photo). Other than that this is a very nice piece which would display well in any collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
