Description: A beautiful wood carved and polychrome painted primitive American Folk Art Horse standing on all four. The flat carving shows a brown colored horse with white mane, tail and face. The horse is standing on a green colored flat base. The horse has a mouth and a nose that are detailed with carved lines. Additionally, the horse has eyes that are also carved and are painted in white with brown and black centers. Just a very interesting and highly decorative folk-art primitive carving. The horse is affixed to the base with nails and the base itself is marked with the artist's name and date. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1990.

Origin: Purchased in an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Made in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Size: Base measures ~10 1/4" by ~3 1/8", while the horse itself is ~9 1/2" high and is ~1/2" wide. The piece weighs about 9 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice and colorful piece of Americana. This is a beautiful and solid piece of wood carving. A definite beauty, which deserves a prominent spot in any folk art wood carvings collection.

Condition: The carving is in excellent condition with no cracks, repairs, or loss to the coloring. There are some spots where the artist did not fully cover the wood with paint one such spot is in the head which can be seen in the first photo. Additionally, the piece has a few minor scratches and bumps, which are difficult to see. All of these issues do not distract from the beauty and quality of the piece.
