1994 Hand Carved & Painted Wood Falk Art Santa Figurine By Jonathan Bastian
Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure. The carving shows Santa Clause or Father Christmas standing with his hands within his coat's sleeves. The figure which was carved and painted by Jonathan Bastian shows Santa wearing a red coat with a hood and yellow fringe. Santa is also wearing brown boots. He has a white long beard with dark gray highlights. A great looking nice size carving that is very well done. Santa has carved and painted eyes. Santa's face is painted in flesh tone with gray eye brows and red lips. The piece is signed and dated by the artist on the side of the base. The carving shows quite a bit of details. The entire piece appears to be carved from a single piece of wood. Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American Folk Art to add to your Americana Collection or your Christmas related collection. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~6 3/4" high, ~2 1/8" at its widest, and the base measure ~2 1/4" by ~1 1/2" and is about ~1" high. The piece weighs slightly over 3 ounces.
Maker: Jonathan Bastian originally from Kutztown, PA now living in Virginia.
Marks: Marked JB 94 in red on the side of the base.
