1998 Carved Wood Dux' Dekes Green Winged Teal Duck Decoy By Jeff Duxbury Glass Eyes
Description: A beautiful decorative carved wood and painted duck decoy. This is a decoy representing a Green Winged Teal duck. The piece is gray with an orangish tint and having green, off-white, black and brown highlights and has what we believe is glass eyes. The decoy has carved details showing the general shape and curves within the head. There is also carving outlining the wings, especially the ends resting on the tail. The decoy has a flat bottom and lays flat on surfaces. It would make for a great decorative piece or a nice addition to your collection. The piece is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The piece is dated 12/98 or December 1998.
Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The decoy measures ~10 1/4" long, ~4 3/8" at its widest, and ~5" at its highest point. The piece weighs slightly over 14 ounces.
Maker: Jeff Duxbury.
Marks: The piece is marked "Dux' Dekes" and has the words "Green Winged Teal 12/98" in cursive calligraphy and is signed in ink "JWDuxy" on the bottom, see last photo.
Condition: The piece is in very good condition with minimum wear or losses to the paint. It is lightly soiled and could use a light wipe down to clean it. The decoy has no breaks or repairs and very vivid colors. It has a few scratches and dings to the surface but these give the decoy true character. It also has three small round velvet pieces of material glued to the base to sit on. This is a very nice piece which would display well in any collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
