2000 Greg Shooner Redware Manganese Glazed Presentation Cylindrical Bottle Flask
Description: A nice manganese glazed small cylindrical bottle or flask having small flared spout or opening. The flask has a round flat base marked by the artist Greg Shooner and dated 2000. It ialso marked in silver colored paint "Pauline-Thanks! Greg Shooner 6/30" and as such this is a presentation piece from the artist to Pauline. The flask which has a flat round base which extends slightly beyond the straight rising sides is short and has a shoulder supporting a short neck with a flared spout or opening on top. The piece has a brown colored appearance with black spots throughout indicative of manganese glazing. This is a rather interesting and unusual piece of shooner pottery, which as usual with all Shooner pieces, is a reproduction of an early nineteenth century piece. It is a nice looking and would make a great addition to your collection. Please view the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Size: Measures ~2 7/8" in diameter at the base, ~3 1/4" to the start of the shoulder and is ~4 3/4" in height to the top of the ~3/4" diameter spout. The bottle weighs ~8.5 ounces.
Maker: Greg Shooner
Marks: Signed Greg Shooner 2000 in cursive calligraphy on bottom. IT also has the hand written notation "Pauline-Thanks! Greg Shooner 6/30". Finally it is also marked "This Glaze Contains Lead; Not for Food Storage or Use" all on the bottom.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece:This is a very nice and unusual piece made by Greg Shooner having a nice and unusual design and great colors. This is a beautiful piece worthy of a prominent spot in any redware collection.
Condition: Flask is in excellent condition with no unintentional chips, cracks, repairs or hairlines. The bottle does have intentional crazing, a few spots where the glaze is lost, and some imperfections in the surface. All of these can be seen in the photo. Of course, all of these are intentional to give the flask the required look of a 19th century reproduced piece. Please see photos for additional condition information.
