Description: This is a nice glazed and sgraffito decorated redware plate in the best Pennsylvania Dutch tradition, made at the Breininger Pottery. The plate has a slightly flattened base with flared rounded sides rising to a lightly coggled edge. The plate is decorated with a sgraffito design depicting a large building or church with a tree and a bird above it. The plate has the word "Robesonia" above the design and the dates "1855-2005" below it. It is obviously a plate made to commemorate the Sesquicentennial celebration for the city or Robesonia , Pennsylvania where Mr. Lester Breininger used to live. The plate has a yellow colored ground with the sgraffito design showing brown colors. The plate also has green highlight indicative of copper oxide. The plate is glazed with unglazed back having the characteristic color of unglazed redware. The back is marked "Breininger Pottery; Robesonia, Pa; November 8, 2005; clear skies".
