Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure by Jonathan Bastian. The carving shows a yellow and black colored (gold finch?) with wire legs standing on a spherical green base. The bird is yellow with black wings and head. The head has a yellow beak and carved yellow eyes with yellow with black center. It is standing on a pair of thick wire ending is wire fingers or toes affixed to the green colored base. The bird is made in the best tradition of Pennsylvania Folk Art tradition. It is signed and dated in black colored paint on its underside. The carving shows details of the wings, the tail, the head and beak. It is very well done and shows the marks of the tool used to carve it throughout. Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American Folk Art to add to your Americana Collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Origin: Although originally from Kutztown Pennsylvania, Jonathan Bastian now lives and works in Virginia.

Size: Measures ~6 3/8" long and is ~5" at its highest point. The piece weighs almost 3 ounces.

Marks: Marked in black coloring on the underside "JB 08."
