2008 Large Redware Charger Glazed and Slip Decorated Christmas Stars and Pine Cones Eldreth Pottery
Description: Round large and substantial redware platter or charger with Christmas decoration. The charger has a slightly flat base with flared rounded sides terminating in a coggled rim. The platter has a yellowish off-white background glaze and is decorated with brown Stars and pine cones highlighted with black lines and in the case of the cones also blue dots. These are alternating all around the rim and pointing towards the center. This is a nice platter of substantial in construction. The back of the charger is unglazed and has the usual coloring of unglazed redware. Please view the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Origin: Oxford, Pennsylvania
Size: ~12" in diameter and is ~1 7/8" high. The piece weighs over 3 pounds.
Maker: Eldreth Pottery
Marks: "Eldreth Pottery 2008, and some sort of an artist mark" in cursive calligraphy on the bottom. We know that these pieces are usually marked with the artist initials and we feel that the unidentified mark is most likely the artist's initials.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice piece with a nice decorative and modern design. This design is very unusual in Americana style redware, definitely different.
Condition: Charger is in excellent like new condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, crazing or hairlines.
