2008 Turtlecreek Turtle Creek Potters Redware Slip Decorated Plate By Betty Lou
Description: Round and substantial pie plate or flat dish with slightly flat base and flared rounded sides terminating in a coggled rim, made in the Turtlecreek Potters studios by the Betty Lou. The dish has yellow colored background glaze with a design of dots, circles, and lines in green and brown slip positioned throughout the plate. The back oof the plate has Betty Lou's signature and date. It has the stamp of the Turtlecreek studio and a short saying "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord" incised into it in cursive calligraphy. An interesting redware plate with a rather modern design. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Marks: "Turtlecreek Potters; Morrow, Ohio; Lead Glaze; Not for Food Storage or Use; May Poison Food" and signed Betty Lou 2008 in cursive calligraphy on bottom. There is also a short saying "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord" incised into the bottom in cursive calligraphy.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This simple contemporary design is just wonderful and makes this piece very different from other redware plates by Turtlecreek potters. A beautiful, solid, and substantial plate weighing over 1 pound and 5 ounces. A definite beauty, which deserves a prominent spot in any redware collection.
