2013 Dan & Donna Strawser Wall Hanging Painted Carved Wood Perched Woodpecker

  • $ 87.77

Description: A hanging hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure. The carving shows what we believe is a woodpecker perched on a branch emanating from a trunk of a tree. The bord, which is carved in the Wilhelm Schimmel fashion, is colored in black, off-white and red. Its wings are black, its body in off-white, and the top of its head is red. The piece has a loop on top to be hung from on a wall as a decorative accent. The bird is off-white with carved eyes with black pupils and a black beak. It is standing on a small branch with wire legs which are wrapped around it. The bird's legs came off the body while we were handling it and we are selling it as is at a reduced price. It is still a nice carving and a handy person would be able to fix it easily. The carving shows minimum details with mainly the general shape of the bird and the wings being outlined. A very well made hand carved piece of American Folk Art to add to your Americana Collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: The carving is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, losses, or repairs. It does have minor scratches and minimal loss to the paint and bark from the branch and trunk. The bird's wire legs came off the body while we were handling it and we are selling it "AS IS" at a reduced price. It is still a nice carving and a handy person would be able to fix it easily.
