8 Inch Glazed Yellow Slip Decorated Redware Plate From Foltz Folk Art Collection

Description:  A slip decorated glazed redware plate. The plate has 5 yellow-colored wavy lines and a coggled edge. The plate is in very good condition and comes with a card indicating that it was sold on April 18, 2015 in Reinholds, PA as part of the folk art collection of Ned & Gwen Foltz. A great find worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. 

Date: Unknown, but most likely mid 1800s to early 1900s. 

Origin: Southeastern Pennsylvania. 

Size: Measures ~8 1/4" in diameter and 1 3/8" high. The plate weighs about 1 pound and 4 ounces. 

Maker: Unknown. 

Marks: Unmarked. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very nice pie plate. It is solid and in great condition after being around for over 100 years. The nice colored glaze with the nice slip decoration pattern and the character of this plate makes it a very nice piece to display.  This dish also has excellent provenance, which is seldom encountered and deserves a prominent spot in any redware collection. 

Condition:  Plate is in very good condition with no wear, cracks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. It does have general crazing to the glaze which is normal for such an old plate. The plate comes with a card indicating that it was sold on April 18, 2015 in Reinholds, PA as part of the folk art collection of Ned & Gwen Foltz. Waw, great provenance.
