Antique Carnival Glass Iridescent Red or Purple Ruffled Bowl Fenton's Dragon and Lotus Pattern

Description: A beautiful lustrous or iridescent red or purple colored Carnival Glass eight-ruffled bowl. This piece which has red and purple coloring over what looks like iridescent dark blue has a very lustrous or iridescent appearance both on the front and the back. It is a beautiful bowl with raised design depicting whimsical flying dragons alternating with rose like flowers in misshapen oval frames. The center of the bowl has a raised design of four lotus flowers emanating from a central point. There is a busy design separating the dragons and lotus designs along the edge and the central lotus flowers. The ruffled edge of the bowl is serrated or toothed. The bowl has a round foot and magnificent coloring on the back. The foot is blue on the back but still shows the iridescent coloring on the inside of the bowl. This bowl represents an original Fenton design. This is a very popular and difficult to come by design. The piece is of solid glass cast construction. Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime between 1915 and 1920.

Size: Measures ~8 3/4" diameter on top, ~3 1/4" diameter at the foot, and ~ 2 1/2" at its highest point. The bowl weighs about one pound and 2 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a beautiful and colorful piece with vivid colors and well defined pattern. Definitely a nice piece worthy of a prominent spot in your collection.

Condition: It is in excellent condition given its age. It has no cracks, no chips, no hairlines, and no repairs. It does have the normal defects carnival glass normally displays such as mold lines, some defects in the glass surface, and a few air bubbles trapped in the glass.
