Antique Cast Iron Still Penny Bank Elephant with Tucked Trunk by Arcade US

  • $ 177.77

Description: This is a nice antique cast iron penny bank in the form of an elephant. The elephant stands on four legs and is painted in a golden color. The elephant has his trunk tucked under its head and resting on his front right leg. The elephant appears to be looking slightly down and to the side with his ears stretched to the side. The piece shows great details and the two pieces, which are held together with the screw, are fitted together very well. This is a first quality piece showing great details and remnants of its original color. The bank has its coin slot on the beast's back. Just a wonderful piece which would display very well in any collection. Please see Andy and Susan Moore's Book "The Penny Bank Book: Collecting Still Banks" published by Schiffer Publishing Ltd. in 1984 bank number 472 page 84 for a similar example. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice example of cast iron figural penny banks, which would display very well and make a nice addition to your collection. Condition: The bank is in excellent used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. It is all original including, we believe, the screw holding it together. It has considerable losses to the paint especially on the top of the elephant, has minor signs of rust, and is great looking. A great piece to add to your collection. Please view photos carefully for additional condition information.
