Antique Dark Blue Transfer Ware Plate "The Elm at Cambridge" R&M Co. Staffordshire England
Description: An antique dark blue transfer ware or transferware Staffordshire plate. The plate has a central scene with a building having a steeple, two large trees in front, and large clouds in the background. The design is in dark blue. The plate has a lightly scalloped inwards slanted rim with a wide edge decorated with a fruits, leaves, and flowers design again in dark blue. The plate is marked on the back indicating the building is "The Elm at Cambridge Mass. Where Washington Took Command of American Army July 3rd 1775." The back also has the maker's mark. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very nice antique plate having a very nice and patriotic design.
Condition: Plate is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips, or repairs. The plate has a general fine crazing which is hard to see with the naked eye, but is there. Be that as it may, the plate is solid with nice colors and in great shape after being around for such a long time. Please see photos to appreciate the beauty and condition of this piece.
