Antique Figural Pipe Tamper Heavy Brass Tall Man Standing Wearing Hat & Smoking Pipe

Description: A very nice heavy brass antique pipe tamper. This brass tamper depicts a tall man standing, wearing a bowl hat, and smoking a pipe. The man who is wearing what looks like long jacket or short coat is standing on a pedestal base with his legs a bit apart. He has one hand on his tummy and his other hand is holding what would be a pipe in his mouth. The relatively long piece has a round tamping disk on the bottom of the stand. The tamping disk is smooth and has no markings or design to it. The piece is somewhat detailed and shows the hat, the jacket, and other gross details but it does not show details of the face or hand. The piece is nice, solid and heavy for its small size, which makes it feel great in your hand. The piece, which was cast and obviously not well cleaned of the casting residue between the man's legs (see photos) suggesting it maybe a vintage reproduction or cheaper version. The piece has smoothed considerably around the head suggesting considerable use. In general I would characterize the piece as being badly cast with very little detail showing, but it is still recognizable for what it is. It also has a few scratches, and minor surface soiling indicating that it was used. A nice piece to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
