Antique G. Rodenstock Munchen Germany Opera Glasses or Binoculars Leather Case

  • $ 54.99

Description: Nice antique small size Opera Glasses or Race Binoculars marked "G. RODENSTOCK MUNCHEN" on top between the ocular lenses. The piece is made of metal and is painted in a nice brown color with the area above the objective lenses being covered with brown leather. The binoculars have a wheel on the bottom between the objective lenses which is used to adjust the focus. The wheel appears to be also made of metal and is marked Atco MADE IN GERMANY. The binoculars the ocular lenses move up and down to focus but the wheel is a little stiff and takes effort to initiate the movement. You can adjust the focus and you can see things that are relatively far when using it with it being fully extended. The ocular lenses when extended are a bit off and they are not of equal length. The binoculars come in a small leather case which is brown in color and is excellent condition. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Unknown.

Origin: Munich Germany.

Size: The ocular lens end is~3 1/4" wide with the ocular piece being ~ 1" in diameter. The objective lens diameter is ~1 1/8". The binoculars are ~3 1/2" wide at objective lens end and the binoculars are ~2" long when fully extended. The piece with the leather case weighs about 5 ounces.

Maker: G. Rodenstock of Munich Germany.

Marks: Marked "G. RODENSTOCK MUNCHEN" on top between the ocular lenses. Also marked "Atco MADE IN GERMANY" on the focus adjustment wheel.

Condition: The optics are ok and the binoculars work relatively well. The optics appear to be dusty but we believe they maybe cleanable. The body of the binocular has some loss and pealing of the brown color. The ocular lenses move up and down to focus. However, the ocular lenses when extended are a bit off and they are not of equal length. The focus wheel is in good working condition but a bit hard to turn, it may need some lubrication. The leather case is in very good condition, intact, and with no losses. The piece is lightly soiled and could use a good cleaning. Because of the issues outlined above we are selling the piece as is at a fraction of its true value. Please view photos for additional condition information.
