Antique Gold Painted Cast Iron Campbell Kids Still Penny Bank A.C. Williams
Description: An antique cast iron bank in the form of a boy and a girl standing together with the boy having the word CAMPBELL in raised letters on his chest and the girl having the word KIDS in raised lettering on her chest. The bank is colored in gold coloring with considerable losses. As we understand it, this bank was manufactured by AC Williams in Ohio in 1910-1920. The bank, which is gold in color, shows two children walking side by side with the girl wearing a dress and the boy wearing pants with a belt. The bank is made of two pieces held together with a screw. The screw is obviously not original and is a recent replacement. We opened the bank and did not observe any markings on the inside but we observed some minor signs of rust. The bank is all original except for the screw. The bank shows considerable paint losses throughout. It has no breaks or repairs. Please see page 71 in Andy and Susan Moor's Book "The Penny Bank Book: Collecting Still Banks" Published by Schiffer Books in 1984, for a photo of a similar example (bank number 163). Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Ca 1900-1920's.
Origin: Made in the USA and purchased at an auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The bank measures ~3 1/2" high and is ~4" at its widest. The piece weighs slightly over 12 ounces.
Maker: A. C. Williams Ohio USA.
Marks: Unmarked.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice penny bank that, for the exception of the replacement screw, is in very good condition. It would make a nice addition to your collection.
Condition: The bank is in good condition. It has no breaks or repairs. The bank is all original (except for the screw holding it together which is a recent replacement), and shows considerable paint losses throughout (estimate about 40% of original paint remaining). A very nice and relatively scarce bank, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view photos to appreciate the beauty of the bank and for additional condition information.
