Antique Heavy Cast Iron Doorstop Fisherman or Old Salt in Yellow Jacket and Hat

Description: Antique, early to mid 1900's cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a Fisherman in a yellow jacket and white pants. He is holding a tan colored fishing net in his right hand. His left hand is in his pocket. The jacket has black buttons. He is wearing a yellow hat and black shoes. The character is standing on a base. The man has a white beard and his eyes has black pupils and white eye brows. The bottom of the base is unpainted and shows signs of rust. This is a nice size piece and weighs over 3 pounds 2 ounces. Please see Jeanne Bertoia's book "Doorstops: Identification & Values" Published by Collector Books, Paducah, KY in 1985, page 70 for a similar example. Please carefully review the images presented as they are part and parcel of the description.

Date: Early to mid 1900's.

Origin: Purchased in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA.

Size: Measures 6 1/2" in height and the base measures 2 3/4"by and 2 3/8". The doorstop weighs over 3 pounds and 2 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice and relatively scarce doorstop. It weighs over 3 pounds and has most of its original paint. A nice piece with beautiful and very interesting details. Would display nicely in your collection.

Condition: This doorstop is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It retains most of its paint with relatively minimal loses to it. However, it does have rust signs on the bottom of the base. It could probably use a good cleaning but we will leave that up to the new owner.
