Antique OG Germany Porcelain Glazed Baby or Child Bowl Circus Clowns & Pig Pink Luster Borderz
Description: A beautiful and unusual baby or child's bowl made in Germany. The bowl which, is rather heavy a bulky, has a flat base with a small diameter central raised foot and has concave rising walls, which forms a waist, ending with a wide flat rim. The bottom half of the bowl's side is in white while the top half which is separated from the bottom by a raised portion (the belt around the waist) is colored with a light pink or purple luster coloring which also colors the edge of the wide rim. The inside of the bowl is decorated with a colored transfer depicting two circus clowns in the circus ring and there is also a pig dressed in a short jacket standing on his hind legs and holding a walking stick. The transfer shows great details and beautiful colors, it is very nicely done. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Early to mid 1900s.
Size: The piece measures ~7 1/2" in diameter, 1 5/8" high, and is 1 1/8" deep. It weighs about 1 1/2 pounds.
Marks: In red under glaze the letters OG intersecting within a circle and the word Germany under it.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a beautiful antique with nice and unusual decoration that is in great shape.
Condition: The bowl is in great excellent condition. It has no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. It does have some scratches as well as quite a bit of color loss both to the luster and to the transfer. There is also a spot behind the pig's back right at the top of the circus' ring which is dark in color and forms a perfect circle with a central depression. We are uncertain what it is but appears to be original to the piece. Be that as it may, this old bowl is beautiful, solid and would make a great addition to your collection.
