Antique Pewter 8" Plate Thomas Danforth Touch Mark Middletown, Connecticut
Description: An antique 8" plate bearing the touch of Thomas Danforth 2nd from Middletown Connecticut. The shallow plate has ~1 1/4" wide rim with an incised line along the rim. Plate is in good condition with some pitting, scratches and distortion. A beautiful plate to add to your collection. Date: Thomas Danforth was active in the period 1755-1782 in Middletown Connecticut.
Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The piece was made in Middletown Connecticut.
Size: The base measures ~8" in diameter and the piece is ~1/2" high. The plate weighs over 9.5 ounces.
Maker: Thomas Danforth the second.
Marks: Marked with the incomplete touch mark of Thomas Danforth 2nd showing the standing lion between columns and the letters DA below it. See Last photo.
Condition: It is in relatively good condition. The plate, which is cleaned, has scratches, some pitting, and is distorted, but all there. It has no breaks or repairs and looks great. The touch mark is mostly absent but is still identifiable. Be that as it may, the piece is nice and would make a great addition to your collection.
