This plate is glazed on the interior with a nice multi tone brownish colored lead glazed resulting in an orange color with black speckles. This is an antique and beautiful plate.  The back of the plate has a very nice dark patina indicating that this plate has been used extensively over the years. It does have one chip on the back (about 1:00 o'clock on the second photo).

Date: Circa mid- to late-1800's.

Origin:  Estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size:  this plate measures 7 1/4" in diameter and is 1 1/2" high.

Maker:  It is unmarked as to the maker.

Condition: It is in excellent condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has no repairs and retains most of its glaze. It has no cracks, breaks or hairlines and only the one chip on the back. It does have considerable crazing, which adds to the beauty of the piece, and a few spots with minor losses to the glaze on the inside.

In Closing: This is a great plate which is beautiful, solid and intact after being around for over 150 years. This is definitely an old plate and it is amazing that it is still in one piece. A definite antique, which very seldom comes by. This plate deserves a prominent spot in any redware collection. Please view photos to appreciate the beauty and condition of the plate.
