Antique Tin Candy Mold Large Santa Standing Gift Bag on His Back Thomas Mills & Brother Inc. Philadelphia Pennsylvania
Description: A nice antique tin candy mold in the shape of Santa Clause standing in his robe with a bag on his back and a fruit basket across his shoulder. This candy or chocolate mold is made of two parts held together with long sliding clips. The mold is made by the Thomas Mills & Brother Ltd company of Philadelphia Pennsylvania and it is so marked. It is also marked with the number "24." The mold shows quite a bit of details for the face, the robe and the hands. You can see the fringe on the robe, the details of the rope holding the basket, the hair details in Santa's beard, and the fingers in Santa's hand among others. Again, the mold is composed of two halves with depression on one of the halves and raised points on the other half. These fit together to ensure that the two haves are in the right position. The two halves stay together with the aid of four clips that are elongated in shape and are pushed over the edge of the two halves. It opens by removing the clips to reveal a backwards image of the mold. The mold used to have a finish on the exterior, but the finish is mostly lost and the exterior shows evidence of wear and rust. The interior is in much better condition. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
