Antique Tin Candy Mold Little Boy in Baggy Pants Wearing a Jacket, Tie and Hat Dresden Germany
Description: A nice and unusual tin candy mold in the shape of young budgy boy wearing baggy pants, , a jacket, a neck tie, and a hat. The boy has his hands in his pockets. The mold is composed of two halves connected with a hinge and having a hinged base connected to one of the halves. It opens by releasing a latch which holds the hinged bottom to reveal a backwards image of the boy. The hinged mold shows evidence of wear and minor oxidation on the inside and outside. The piece has a long protruding thumb pieces at the edge to help open it. The hinge is stamped with the number 47508 on the front and the words ANIUN REICHE DRESDEN and other words we are unable to identify. The back of the piece is also stamped GES.GESCH. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster Pennsylvania but was made Dresden Germany
Size: Measures 4" wide, 6 1/4" high with a base measuring 2" by 2 1/4" and is ~2 3/4" at its deepest (the boy's hat).

Marks: Marked as follows; the hinge is stamped with the number 47508 on the front and the words ANIUN REICHE DRESDEN and other words we are unable to identify. The back of the piece is also stamped GES.GESCH. Finally the base is stamped D. R. G. M.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very nice and unusual piece to be used to make candy and chocolate figures. This is really a substantial piece weighing over 9 ounces.
Condition: It is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, repairs or losses. It does have some general wear commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. The piece is a bit deformed at the edges, but that can be straightened if you so desire. It has acquired a nice warm gray patina with age. It also shows some signs of oxidation all of which can be seen in the photos. Please see photo for additional condition information.
