Antique Tin Pennsylvania Large Flat-Back Cookie Cutter Of Standing Horse Tail Up
Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 1800s.
Origin: Was acquired at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The cookie cutter measures ~6 1/4" at its longest, is ~4 7/8" at its widest, and the design is ~3/4" in depth. The cutter weighs about 3 ounces.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Nice and very old cookie cutter with a nice, unusual, and very desirable design, which would display well in your collection of primitives and/or cookie cutters.
Condition: The cutter is aged to a nice dark gray patina. It has rust spots on the front and back commensurate with the cutter's age and utilitarian function. The cutter’s back itself is a bit distorted with the edges slightly bent along the design border on the opposite side. The cutter appears to be all original and very well made. The design itself has separated from the backing in a few spots, such as the head, the tail and the belly, but is still solidly together and great looking. We have attempted to take a few photos of some of these issues and they are part of our description. A great looking cookie cutter, which would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
