Antique Tin Pennsylvania Large Flat-Back Cookie Cutter Of Standing Horse

Description: An antique flat back tin cookie cutter. The design is of a horse standing The cutter's back is flat and has two relatively large holes for the air to escape. The cutter's is flat and has no handle soldered to it making this a true flat back cutter. The flat back itself is a bit distorted and with edges slightly bent along the design border on the opposite side. Unlike most cookie cutters of this vintage this one is not rectangular but rather is cut along the design itself. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 1800s.

Origin: Was acquired at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The cookie cutter measures ~7" at its longest, is ~4 1/4" at its widest, and the design is ~7/8" in depth. The cutter weighs about 2.7 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Nice and very old cookie cutter with a nice, unusual, and very desirable design, which would display well in your collection of primitives and/or cookie cutters.

Condition: The cutter is aged to a nice dark gray patina. It has rust spots on the front and back commensurate with the cutter's age and utilitarian function. The cutter's back itself is a bit distorted and with edges slightly bent along the design border on the opposite side. The cutter appears to be all original and very well made.
