Antique Tintype Photo of Grandmother and Granddaughter with Red Cheeks in Case
Description: Offered here is 1/6 plate charming tintype photo of a sitting grandmother with her granddaughter standing next to her and holding her hand. The grandmother is wearing a dark dress and a white bonnet, while the granddaughter is wearing a lighter colored dress with a repeating design. Both have red highlights on their cheeks. The photo is in a wooden or pressed wood case with a red velvet padding on the inside of the cover. The case has a hook to close it. The case is intact with considerable wear of the coloring and some minor losses. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel pf our description.
Date: Uncertain but most likely late 1860s.

Size: The piece measures ~3 1/4" by ~3 5/8" by ~5/8" when closed. The piece weighs about 2.6 ounces.
Maker: Unknown.
Marks: Unmarked and we chose not to pull out the image to see if it is marked.
Condition: The photo appears to be in very good condition as is the case. The entire piece is a bit soiled but other than that all in all the piece is in very good condition for being around for over 150 years. The hook latches properly and locks the case as it should. The photo is in a wooden or pressed wood case with a red velvet padding on the inside of the cover. The case has a hook to close it. The case is intact with considerable wear to the surface colors and some minor losses. The red lining on the inside has faded some and is soiled but intact. A great old photo from the 1860s, which would make a nice addition to your collection. The piece shows no apparent oxidation to the brass frame but the hinge of the case has been repaired with brown cloth tape. Other than that, this is a nice and charming old photo to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
