Antique Turned Single Piece Wood Butter Print Flower Design Knob Shaped Handel
Description: A beautiful antique turned and chip carved single piece wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a single piece of wood, has the very desirable design of a flower positioned in the center of the field. The piece is decorated with a deep carved flower with leaves on both sides and leaves fanning out from the top. The design is framed with two concentric incised lines along the edge with short leaves design all around the edge. The print has a round flat surface with a deep carved design of the flower. The flower and leaves show lots of intricate details. The print has a knob like handle on top. Again, the entire piece is made of a single piece of wood. Date: Unknown but most likely mid to late 1800s (mid to late 19th century).
Origin: Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~4 1/4" in diameter at the design part and is ~3 1/8" high. The print weighs slightly over 2.5 ounces.

Marks: Unmarked.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very good antique butter print with a nice and rather well executed design. A nice antique butter print, which would make a great addition to your collection.
Condition: The piece is in good condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has general wear and losses along the edge of the print itself. It has some minor age cracks within the design which can be seen in the photos with one particularly long (~1 3/8") and going through to the other side which we show in the last photo. There is also remnants of an old label on top of the print, which again can be seen in the photos. The piece has no repairs and has acquired a nice age patina. It also has general wear, with some roughness at the top of the knob like handle (see next to last photo). The piece has some soiling and general wear to the surface.
