Antique Wood Tramp Art Picture Frame With German Print Under Glass Cover

Description: This is a true antique tramp art wood picture fame with a glass cover. The frame has the typical tramp art look with the multi-level of toothed wood to build depth into the sides. The frame has an old German print with a man standing on the opposite side of the fence of a line of people with snow on the ground. The image is titled "Das Begrabnis". The frame has been built on the back using flat wood slats to allow for inserting the glass and the print with cardboard used as backing. The piece has a loop near the to hang from. We believe those are more recent additions to the frame. Never the less they do not compromise the quality or beauty of the piece. A nice piece of Tramp Art which once properly cleaned would display very well in your collection. Please carefully review photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.Date: Uncertain but possibly mid to late 19th century. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The opening within the frame measures ~4" by ~6" with the exteriotr measuring ~8 3/8" by ~6 3/8". The extensions on top and bottom add about ~7/8" to ~1" beyond the body opf the frame itself. The piece weighs about 10 1/2 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is beautiful tramp art frame worthy of a spot in your collection of wooden frames.

Condition: The frame is in good overall condition. It is intact with minor scratches and nicks. It has one larger chip or loss to a tooth which we show in the last photo. The frame retains all of its original color and appears to be all original with no repairs. The frame has been built on the back using flat wood slats to allow for inserting the glass and the print with cardboard and tape used as backing. We believe those are more recent additions to the frame as is the print within the frame. There are a few minor chips at the edges of some of the teeth within the layers but these are minor and few and do not distract from the beauty of the piece.
